Release notes

Updated with every app release. Latest: v2.5.1, October 20, 2026.

Nim has a new look and can do more right in the chat: talk instead of typing, send it files, save skills and move money step by step. Pix is faster and tracks every payment from the moment you slide, and this update fixes a round of bugs.

What's new

  • Nim's chat has a new look: a clean white page, larger replies and a floating message box.
  • Talk to Nim instead of typing. Tap the mic and your words appear as text.
  • Send Nim a PDF, text or CSV file from the new + menu, as well as photos.
  • Ask Nim to save a skill, then run it by typing /, from the + menu or from Nim's side menu.
  • Ask Nim to do things on a schedule, and see, pause or delete them from Nim's side menu.
  • When you ask Nim to move money, it walks you through it step by step and skips what you already told it.
  • Open your recent chats from Nim's side menu, and rename, share or delete a chat from the ⋮ menu.
  • Copy any Nim answer, or share it as a Liminal image.
  • Tap one of our reminders and Nim opens with the next step ready to go.
  • See the AI apps connected to your account in Profile, what they have done, and disconnect any of them.
  • See our partner venues on the Rewards screen. When you pay at one, choose to pay with LIL Bits or earn LIL Bits.
  • Request Money is laid out like your transactions: what you owe and what you are owed, with totals per currency.
  • Pay a Pix key in US dollars. We work out the reais and show the cost in pounds or euros too.
  • Pix payments track their progress from the moment you slide to pay.
  • Paying a scanned Pix code is a few seconds faster.
  • Pay a boleto and we tell you when the bank will confirm it.
  • Split a Pix payment or open its receipt straight from Transactions.
  • Pay a Pix code that has no amount set by typing the amount yourself.
  • Copied a Pix key, code or bill number? Open Pix and we take you straight to the payment.
  • The tab bar at the bottom of the screen has a frosted glass look.
  • Pick from 152 more emojis for your invite code.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the Pix screen crashing while a payment was still being recorded. Any screen that hits an error now has a way back.
  • Fixed going back from Pix. It now always lands on Payments.
  • Fixed a Pix key that is both a CPF and a phone number not being found.
  • Fixed a failed payment sometimes showing as complete, and one still processing showing as failed.
  • Fixed a Pix payment under review, and a bank deposit still settling, not showing in Transactions until they cleared.
  • Fixed splitting a bill so that one person covers all of it.
  • Fixed screen titles staying put while the page scrolled.
  • Fixed Nim's chat jumping to older messages when you tapped the message box, and scrolling away while a step-by-step card changed.
  • Fixed slow actions, like buying stocks, giving up too early.
  • Fixed a swipe on a payment slider taking you back a screen.
  • Fixed a rare freeze on iPhone.
  • Fixed the minimum UK top-up. It is £2.
  • Fixed a completed send notification showing in orange. It is green now.
  • Fixed Nim not saying when a photo failed to attach.
  • Android: fixed tapping a notification not opening the app.
  • Android: fixed text sitting off centre in Nim's message box, the payment slider and amount fields.

Coming soon

  • Call Nim and talk things through out loud, or ask Nim to call you back once it has looked into something.

Pix is here. Pay anyone in Brazil from your dollar balance by scanning a QR code, pasting a Pix code or typing a Pix key, and get paid with your own Pix QR code. This update also brings together everything from 2.4.1 and 2.4.2: a shorter identity check, a new look for every result screen, more for split tabs and a steadier app.

What's new

  • Pix in Brazil: pay anyone by scanning a QR code, pasting a Pix code or typing a Pix key, straight from your US dollar balance.
  • See who holds a Pix key before you pay, then follow your payment until it arrives.
  • Receive Pix with your own QR code. The money lands in your US dollar balance.
  • Pay Brazilian bills too: scan a boleto's barcode or type its number.
  • Every Pix payment gets a receipt in English or Portuguese.
  • The home card has a Pix button that opens the scanner, where you can also type or paste a code.
  • On iPhone, a lock-screen widget opens the Pix scanner in one tap.
  • Accept our Pix partner's terms as soon as you finish verifying, and we send you a notification the moment Pix is ready.
  • Check your Pix limits from the info button. If an amount is over your limit, we tell you before you pay.
  • If our partner cannot use your selfie, you can retake it in the app.
  • Every result screen has a new design, so you can tell at a glance whether something worked, is in review or needs you. Success is green, and the update screen has the same look.
  • The home buttons are now Top up and Send. Send takes you straight to Pay Someone.
  • Invite friends from the new gift icon at the top of the screen, or from Profile.
  • Choose your own four-emoji invite code, once, for 200 LIL Bits.
  • The Rewards screen is rebuilt around your balance, with a slider to claim. The Earn sheet has an invite card, a to-do list with your progress, and clear rates for spending and saving.
  • Before you open a deposit account, a short guide explains how it works.
  • Account statements now open from Profile, under Money, and Delete account has its own section at the bottom.
  • Getting verified is shorter. The identity check collects your phone number, date of birth and address itself, and we notify you when you are approved or need to act.
  • Top up is open to everyone. Pick a currency and we run the check that account needs, with the minimum deposit next to the instructions.
  • Split tabs: archive a tab once everyone has settled, track amounts in British pounds, add notes to bills, and choose whether debts are simplified.
  • Colombia: pay a Bre-B key, with every Colombian ID type, account type and bank on offer.
  • Moving money in and out of savings is one simpler sheet: a big amount, your balance, MAX and a slider.
  • Linking a bank account offers every country we support, not just three.
  • Signing up suggests a handle for you, and a Brazil flag joins the home-screen icons.
  • Nim greets you in your phone's language.
  • Android: you can now take a photo to send to Nim.
  • The app is a smaller download.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed sign-up starting over when the app reloaded part of the way through.
  • Fixed being signed out with a Session expired message after the app had been in the background.
  • Fixed the home balance breaking apart at the largest text sizes.
  • Fixed inbox notifications showing different colours for the same kind of event.
  • Fixed the sell quote showing the fee taken off twice.
  • Fixed the national ID screen stopping you without saying why.
  • Fixed verifications approved after a manual review not showing as Verified.
  • Fixed sending to a Colombian bank account, and account number checks for Colombian banks.
  • Fixed the Nim chat ignoring taps after the keyboard closed.
  • Fixed pasting an amount into a money field.
  • Fixed being asked about the Face ID lock twice during sign-up.
  • Fixed error messages appearing behind the app lock.
  • Fixed the search bar hint disappearing on iOS 27.
  • Android: fixed the back button leaving a multi-step flow, or the app, instead of going back one step.
  • Android: fixed buttons sitting behind the navigation bar and the keyboard covering the field you are typing in.
  • Android: fixed notifications showing a plain white square instead of the Liminal mark.

Coming soon

  • Add funds in Brazilian reais and hold a BRL balance.
  • Spend your LIL Bits on experiences at partner venues.

Savings and every result screen have a cleaner design. Split tabs gain bill notes and a choice over how debts are settled. A round of fixes makes the app steadier, on Android most of all.

What's new

  • Moving money in and out of savings is one simpler sheet: a big amount, your balance, MAX and a slider that stays above the keyboard.
  • Every result screen has a new design, so you can tell at a glance whether something worked, is in review or needs you.
  • Split tabs: add a note to a bill, and read the breakdown Nim writes when it records one for you.
  • Split tabs: switch off simplified debts in a tab's settings and everyone pays exactly the people they owe.
  • Linking a bank account offers every country we support, not just three.
  • Your portfolio value is shown in the same style as your home balance.
  • Signing up suggests a handle for you, ready to keep or change.
  • A Brazil flag joins the home-screen icons you can pick.
  • The app is a smaller download.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed being signed out with a Session expired message after the app had been in the background.
  • Fixed the Nim chat ignoring taps after the keyboard closed.
  • Fixed pasting an amount into a money field.
  • Fixed being asked about the Face ID lock twice during sign-up.
  • Fixed error messages appearing behind the app lock.
  • Fixed success showing in blue. It is green now.
  • Android: fixed the back button leaving a multi-step flow, or the app, instead of going back one step.
  • Android: fixed buttons sitting behind the navigation bar and the keyboard covering the field you are typing in.
  • Android: fixed a typed digit briefly drawing over the currency symbol.
  • Android: you can now take a photo to send to Nim, not only pick one from your library.
  • Android: fixed notifications showing a plain white square instead of the Liminal mark.

Coming soon

  • Pix in Brazil: pay by key or QR code, see who holds a key before you pay, check your limits, and open the scanner from your lock screen.
  • Add funds in Brazilian reais, straight from your BRL balance.

Getting verified asks you for less and tells you the result. Add funds is open to everyone with clearer steps. Split tabs can be archived and can track pounds. In Colombia you can pay a Bre-B key.

What's new

  • Getting verified is shorter. The identity check collects your phone number, date of birth and address itself, so there are no forms to fill in first.
  • You get a notification, with a link back into the app, when your verification is approved or needs your attention.
  • Add funds is open to everyone. Pick a currency and we run the check that account needs, right there.
  • On Add funds, your open accounts are highlighted, the page explains how to deposit, and the minimum deposit sits next to the instructions.
  • Archive a split tab once everyone has settled, from the tab's settings. Archived tabs are labelled everywhere, and settlement rows show who was paid.
  • Split tabs can now track amounts in British pounds.
  • Colombia: pay a Bre-B key. Bre-B leads the bank list, paying a key skips the address steps, and every Colombian ID type, account type and bank is offered.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the sell quote showing the fee taken off twice. It now shows your net proceeds once.
  • Fixed the search bar hint disappearing on iOS 27.
  • Fixed the national ID screen stopping you without saying why.
  • Fixed verifications approved after a manual review not showing as Verified.
  • Fixed sending to a Colombian bank account, which was routed as if it were a Bre-B key.
  • Fixed account number checks for Colombian banks. Each bank's own format is accepted.

Coming soon

  • Pix in Brazil: pay by key, QR code or boleto, receive with your own QR code, and get a receipt in English or Portuguese. If our partner cannot use your selfie, you can retake it in the app.
  • Add funds in Brazilian reais, straight from your BRL balance.

Add funds in one screen, share your bank details in a tap, sign in with Google or Apple from the first screen, and earn reward points as you go. Your portfolio chart now shows the trades that went through, and getting verified is quicker and tells you what comes next.

What's new

  • Reward points are here. Earn them as you use Liminal, then claim and redeem them from the Rewards screen.
  • New to Liminal? Nim greets you right after sign-up with a short chat that sets up your account.
  • Verification is quicker: you go straight to your identity check, and we ask for extra details only when a transfer needs them.
  • Add funds is one screen now, and your deposit details sit on the home card, so topping up takes fewer taps.
  • Share your bank details straight from the account details screen, ready to paste into a chat or an email.
  • Sign in with Google or Apple from the landing screen, with email one tap away.
  • The portfolio chart marks the buys and sells that went through. Selling defaults to US dollars, and you can tap the allocation rings to see each holding.
  • Getting verified shows a three-step progress bar and tells you what the next step is and why, instead of sending you back through checks you have already passed.
  • Choose a black or white home-screen icon from Profile on iPhone.
  • Profile is grouped into sections, every row opens as a sheet, and release notes now live under Support so you can see what changed.
  • Nim opens as a full screen with a close button, and a link into Nim can prefill your message.
  • Your account details are shown in full, with nothing masked.
  • Face ID or fingerprint unlock is offered once, during setup, and no longer sits over the splash screen.
  • Amount fields accept a decimal comma as well as a decimal point.
  • On Android, a clear message with a way forward when Google Play services is missing.

Bug fixes

  • Signing in with a password works again, and signing out takes you back to the landing screen.
  • Tapping a notification now opens the right screen, including links from the in-app inbox. Notification titles show again on iPhone.
  • Setting up your account no longer fails when a transfer takes a while to confirm.
  • The verification status sheet says each thing once, and your profile says Verified only once your account is ready.
  • The balance on Home and Savings stays on one line, and so do the currency rows on Add funds, with your opened accounts first.
  • The search bar no longer clips its placeholder, and shadows on Android now match iOS.
  • Lists in Nim no longer collapse to one character per line.

Coming soon

  • Pix in Brazil: pay by key, QR code or boleto barcode, and receive with your own QR code.

Everything since 2.2.0, including the two over-the-air updates in between. The Payments tab is rebuilt, Nim answers with real cards and tables instead of paragraphs, getting verified no longer dead-ends, and a long run of freezes is gone.

What's new

  • The Payments tab is rebuilt into three titled groups, so sending, requesting and moving money to a bank are all easier to find.
  • Ask Nim about your portfolio, your holdings or a stock and you get a proper card back: live prices, charts, real company logos and tables you can read across, drawn straight into the chat.
  • Your first conversation with Nim is a proper introduction rather than a cold start.
  • Getting verified now tells you what you need before you start, so you are not asked for a selfie or a proof of address halfway through with no warning.
  • More tokenized stocks to invest in, and each one now carries its own market hours, so the open or closed badge reflects that stock's venue rather than the market in general.
  • Trades now carry a 0.1% Liminal fee, charged in USDC on both buys and sells. We also halved the pool fee on our tokenized equities to 0.05%.
  • Referral codes are emoji now. Share a short run of emoji instead of a code, and if a friend invited you by email you are linked up automatically when you finish setting up.
  • Biometric unlock can be turned on and off from your profile, and app lock now asks on a Liminal screen that says what it does, instead of a bare system passcode prompt.
  • Form labels now sit inside the box and float up as you type, so a long label is never cut off.
  • Turning off a type of notification now actually stops those notifications, rather than only hiding them.

Bug fixes

  • On some phones, taps in Nim stopped registering entirely and stayed broken through a reinstall. A hidden layer left over from a closed panel was swallowing them. It is gone.
  • The app could lock up on the unlock screen with no button to press and no way back. On some Android phones the fingerprint prompt never appeared at all, and force-quitting was the only escape, after which it happened again on the next launch. There is now always a way past it.
  • The app could freeze after you left it and came back, on no particular screen.
  • Opening an older Nim conversation started you mid-thread and would not scroll until you tapped the message box. It now opens on the newest message.
  • Some actions could fail with no message at all. They now tell you what went wrong.
  • Signing up could drop you into the app without finishing setup, or restart the setup screen underneath you. Twelve separate dead-ends in signing up and getting verified are fixed, including steps that would not accept a valid answer.
  • You can now enter your name with accents, or in Greek, Cyrillic or any other script. The name box previously only accepted plain English letters.
  • Fixed a stock position you could not close, and proceeds that were shown higher than what you would actually receive.
  • Nim asked the wrong exchange whether a market was open, so a tradable stock could look closed. Each stock is now checked against its own venue, and a closed market no longer claims a reopen time it does not have.
  • Your savings rate could show as 0%. It now shows the real rate.
  • Nim charts no longer get clipped by the edge of their card, chat scrolls more smoothly while a reply is streaming, and portfolio returns are rounded to two decimal places.
  • The deposit flow now asks you to accept terms before you start, not part way through, and linking a bank returns you to where you started instead of stacking another screen on top.
  • Dismissing an error while withdrawing or requesting money returns you to the amount you typed, not to the beginning.
  • Adding or removing someone from a split tab silently did nothing, and a settled tab can now be closed by any active member.
  • Announcements could be closed before you ever saw them, and never came back.
  • The Liminal mark now spins while your account is being created, so a slow signup does not look stuck.

Coming soon

  • Pix and Brazilian real. Pay and get paid by Pix, scan any Pix QR, and hold BRL alongside your other balances.
  • Reward points. Earn points as you use Liminal and redeem them for rewards.
  • Nim on WhatsApp. Ask Nim to move money, check your portfolio and pay requests without leaving your chats.
  • Contacts. Send to the people in your phone book without asking for their details.

The two things we teased last time are here. Investing and connected banks are live for everyone. Nim also gets a proper approval screen for anything that moves money, and we dropped our fee on bank withdrawals.

What's new

  • Investing is live. Buy and sell stocks and crypto without leaving Liminal. Search hundreds of US stocks, watch live prices and charts, and track it all from the Invest tab.
  • Connected banks. Link a bank account and see its balance and transactions alongside your Liminal money. You can connect straight from the Payments tab.
  • When you ask Nim to move money, you now approve it first on a redesigned screen: the amount up front, who it's going to, and a slide to confirm. Nothing moves until you slide.
  • We dropped our fee on bank withdrawals to the US, UK, Europe, Mexico and Colombia.
  • Nim can now see your notifications, so you can ask it about that alert you just got.
  • The QR code on your profile is drawn in the Liminal style — rounded, with our mark in the middle — and scans just as reliably as before.

Bug fixes

  • A tiny savings remainder could show as an extra cent you couldn't withdraw. Balances now round down and costs round up, so what you see is never more than you hold or less than you'll pay.
  • A failed stock buy looked exactly like one that went through. It now shows as failed in your activity.
  • Editing your phone number could staple the wrong country code onto it. The country picker no longer changes on its own.
  • The big digits you type on the amount screen were clipped at the top and bottom on some phones.
  • The animated balance could drop its last digit while counting up.
  • On Android, a bar above the keyboard could land in the middle of the sign-up form and close the keyboard when you tapped a field. It's gone.
  • Your avatar is now the same colour in the app and on the web.
  • The announcement popup could appear while the app was still locked. It now waits until you've unlocked.

Coming soon

  • Reward points. Earn points as you use Liminal and redeem them for rewards.
  • Richer Nim answers. Portfolios, stock details and charts drawn right in the chat.

A short release on top of 2.1.2. Signing up is now one screen, you can change the app icon on iPhone, and the sign-out bugs that survived the last release are fixed.

What's new

  • Sign-up is one screen. Name, handle and terms together, straight after the code we text you. Phone, date of birth and nationality are only asked when you verify your identity.
  • Your handle is now chosen once, at sign-up, and cannot be changed later. People pay to your handle, so renaming it would quietly redirect money meant for you.
  • Pick a different app icon on iPhone. Profile → App Icon offers the original and an inverted version.
  • Notifications are on from the start instead of being a separate sign-up question.
  • When a payment fails because your balance is short, the message now has a Top Up button instead of just OK.
  • Error messages across the app are more specific about what went wrong and what to do next.
  • Savings on your profile now lists each currency on its own line, with its own balance, rate and interest earned.

Bug fixes

  • Signing out could bounce you back into the app, then fail your next sign-up with a session error and lose the email address you used.
  • A "Session Expired" box no longer appears over the login screen after you sign out, and a brief loss of connection no longer looks like an expired session.
  • The Ask Nim lock-screen widgets showed a placeholder warning and could not be added. They now render and can be placed.
  • Savings figures on your profile were taken from whichever currency loaded first, so a euro balance could appear with a dollar sign.
  • The ring around the Nim button no longer changes thickness as you move between screens.

Coming soon

  • Investing. Buy and track stocks and crypto without leaving Liminal.
  • Connected banks. Link an account and see its balance and transactions alongside Liminal.

A correctness release. We went through the money maths, the sign-in session and every control that could latch itself dead, and fixed what we found.

What's new

  • Send money to another Liminal user without verifying your identity first. Verification is still needed to deposit or withdraw.
  • Forms now say which field is wrong and why, instead of just greying out Continue.
  • More feedback across the app: tab-bar taps, sheet transitions and screen changes all respond properly.

Bug fixes

  • Amounts no longer lose a penny to rounding. This touched balances, Max buttons and the insufficient-balance checks.
  • Scheduled payments set to "every 2 weeks" were going out every week.
  • Identity verification no longer rejects you on your 18th birthday.
  • Slide to confirm now springs back when a payment is rejected or you cancel Face ID, instead of freezing at the far end.
  • A fresh install could reach a welcome screen that ignored every tap.
  • Onboarding could get stuck on the finishing spinner.
  • Opening and closing a sheet quickly no longer leaves the button behind it dead.
  • Payments made with no connection now fail straight away, rather than quietly going out minutes later.
  • A currency conversion that timed out can no longer go through twice.
  • Fixed sign-outs that happened for no visible reason, and an expired session now asks you to sign in again.
  • Signing out no longer leaves the previous person's name on the next sign-up.
  • Confirm is now blocked when your balance cannot cover the transfer.
  • Removed minimum-fee wording for fees we never charged.
  • Deposit and withdraw are reachable again after tapping "Try again" on the terms screen.
  • Notifications keep loading older items after a failed page.
  • The keyboard now dismisses reliably on iOS, including on number pads.
  • The amount stays centred as you type.
  • Pix in Brazil now opens the right screen.
  • Animations follow your device's reduced-motion setting.

Coming soon

  • Investing. Buy and track stocks and crypto without leaving Liminal.
  • Connected banks. Link an account and see its balance and transactions alongside Liminal.

A performance and polish release. The app is smaller and starts faster, lists and charts move more smoothly, and Nim chat is easier to talk to.

What's new

  • Nim keeps the input editable while it's replying, so you can line up your next question.
  • Nim opens with starter suggestions, and marks replies you haven't seen yet.
  • Tell Nim why an answer missed, with one-tap reasons on "Was this helpful?".
  • Onboarding now animates as you move between steps.

Bug fixes

  • Depositing into Liminal is free. We removed fee wording for charges we never applied — the provider's exchange rate still includes a spread.
  • The app is smaller and starts faster.
  • Balances, charts, transaction lists and Nim chat all scroll and animate more smoothly.
  • Transaction rows no longer show the same label twice.
  • Tap or drag to dismiss the keyboard on money-entry screens.
  • Loading states are consistent across the app.
  • Text now follows your device's text-size setting.
  • Find Friends can ask for full contact access when you've only shared some contacts.
  • Going back now lands on the right screen.
  • Identity verification no longer fails for some new users.
  • Fixed a crash on screens showing certain text.

Coming soon

  • Investing. Buy and track stocks and crypto without leaving Liminal.

  • Download your account statement as a PDF — now available to everyone.
  • Tap a result inside a Nim answer to jump straight to that screen.

  • Rate Nim's answers with "Was this helpful?".

Bug fixes

  • Account statements now show the holder's address, with clearer styling.
  • Error messages are friendlier and no longer expose technical details.
  • Button labels are properly centred on iOS and Android.
  • Added a subtle haptic when you slide to confirm on Android.
  • KYC dropdowns now select the first option automatically where it makes sense.
  • Business recipients now require a name, so transfers don't fail later.
  • Data loads faster and stays fresher across the app.

Coming soon

  • Investing. Buy and track stocks without leaving Liminal.

Bug fixes

  • Always show Invest tab so the coming-soon teaser is reachable
